VIDEO: Two Visions of America

One pinches my heart. The other makes me pinch my nose.

Yes, why shouldn't we believe that? Happy 101st Birthday, Mr. President! Here's to a revitalization of independence, of individual empowerment, of hope, and always, always, of freedom.

Happy 100th, Mr. President

He turned 100 yesterday. And we're still enthralled in who the man was because of what he represented.

Ronald Reagan was a modern day Founding Father. Somewhere inside him, in a place some of us know, some of us seek to find, some of us hope exists, he understood the simplistic truth of life. He understood human nature, which meant loving it's right to choose while unapologetically fighting it's wrong choices.

He never had shame for his beliefs, never allowed anyone to force that shame. He simply stood on them, stood despite the force of opposition, despite the anger of opposition. He never wavered, confident he was right, confident in the American people, confident in the American way of life, confident it was right and good and desired by all mankind because it gave every man freedom.

His fame endures because he was right. Had he been wrong, had government ever been the answer, he would have gone down in history as a pitiful leader. Instead, even Obama wants people to think of him like good ole Dutch.

Yeah. Good luck with that.

So here's to the man who loved his country, who understood the priceless value of individual freedom, who truly loved the people he served. And who kept us either in awe of him or laughing with him throughout his time.

I still miss the Gipper. I suppose I always will.

Here are a few videos I chose of his birthday ceremony. First, an amusing, well-told and told often in Reagan's words, speech from Gary Sinese, a true patriot.

The beautiful salute and a Marine with tears streaming down her face.

And because he was the best at telling his story than anyone, a few great Reagan videos.

TIME: O's the New FDR! I mean Reagan!

TIME magazine doesn't believe you can't read. They believe you can't think.

NOVEMBER 2008:
Obama won! Everyone's now a liberal. Big government rocks. Our boy Obama is the new FDR!

FEBRUARY 2011:
Crap. Everyone hates big government. Obama got pounced in the recent election. Obama is the new Reagan!

For the liberals at TIME, Obama must succeed. The media has staked everything on this nuance kid from no where who accomplished nothing. They hold the controlling interest in his stock. He is the image. And that image can and must be tweaked, depending on how the wind blows. He's like a bendy straw. So if publicly bending over one ideology doesn't work, he'll publicly twist back the other way.

But he's still the same liberal. Still believes people are incapable of running their own lives. Still believes in a government control that far exceeds, and actually reverses, our own Constitution. Still hates a Republic democracy, capitalism, and the right of every human to live and die by our own moral stamina.

They can twist him in whatever direction they choose, but he is still the same. And Americans don't want his ideas.

So maybe he's more like a stir stick.

This is Why

Why are Americans holding Tea Party protests?

This is Why.

There must be a line. A healthy boundary, I say a lot. Everyone should have them, healthy boundaries that is. What we allow and do not allow. What we accept and do not accept. What is good for us, what is not. Boundaries protect us. Give order. Keep the bad out, the good in.

A country must have them, too. A healthy country. One that survives. But not only. One that also flourishes. We must have boundaries, a line that says, "Yes, we accept this. No, we do not accept that."
The Constitution is that boundary. It sets the limit of what government can and cannot do. Our budget is a boundary, it shows what we can and cannot afford. Individual freedom is a boundary, it limits what the government can and cannot control.

The Tea Party isn't a revolutionary movement. A new idea. The Tea Party is a reminder of the boundaries that were established long ago and have given Americans the greatest country to ever exist in the history of mankind. The Tea Party is simply standing up for healthy boundaries.

Why the Tea Party? That is why.

the Great Comparison

Not difficult to see the differences.

This is why there is no compromise. Conservatives don't want to be enslaved even a little.

Via Patriot Post

"Bitter as it is to accept the results of the November election, we should have reason for some optimism. For many years now we have preached 'the gospel,' in opposition to the philosophy of so-called liberalism, which was, in truth, a call to collectivism. Now, it is possible we have been persuasive to a greater degree than we had ever realized. Few, if any, Democratic Party candidates in the last election ran as liberals. Listening to them I had the eerie feeling we were hearing reruns of Goldwater speeches. I even thought I heard a few of my own. Bureaucracy was assailed and fiscal responsibility hailed. ... But let's not be so naive as to think we are witnessing a mass conversion to the principles of conservatism. Once sworn into office, the victors reverted to type. In their view, apparently, the ends justified the means."

"For many years now, you and I have been shushed like children and told there are no simple answers to the complex problems which are beyond our comprehension. Well, the truth is, there are simple answers -- they just are not easy ones. The time has come for us to decide whether collectively we can afford everything and anything we think of simply because we think of it. The time has come to run a check to see if all the services government provides were in answer to demands or were just goodies dreamed up for our supposed betterment. The time has come to match outgo to income, instead of always doing it the other way around."
