Not much more is needed. The billboard wraps up my sentiment rather succinctly.
Yes, I do miss George W. Bush. I miss his strength as a war-time President. I miss his integrity. I miss his respectful and classy wife. I miss his lack of speeches. I miss his country charm. I miss his patriotism. I miss his healthy self-confidence, as opposed to sick narcissism. I miss knowing when he made a promise, it stuck. I miss a guy in the White House who knew he was one of us, not The One for us.
I miss George W., and all the men before him who understood the Presidency wasn't a Throne but a civil service job. These people in Minnesota miss that, too.
No. I didn't view George W. as perfect. I'm always amazed at how quickly those of us on the right will jump in and start eating our own. Who needs the liberal media to always carry that water when we'll carry it ourselves?
So, for all of you wanting me to list the things I didn't agree with Bush on, you'll be disappointed. I'm rather done with that memo. Besides, with Obama's repetitious "It's all Bush's fault" mantra, it's old news.
Instead, I'll focus on what the billboard is really saying. It's saying we lost something in 2008. Not a political race. We've lost those before. Political figures come and go. What we lost was a sense of self. What kind of America is it that would elect a socialist with no history and no friends who aren't Marxists to the highest office in the nation? What happened to us that we allowed it to get that far?
So we're going back. We're looking into our history and into our depths. What are we really? What ideals created this nation and are they still worth fighting for?
Dear God in Heaven. Help us. Because the answer is 'yes'.
I remember my parents telling me as a little girl that America was the home of freedom. And should it cease to exist here, it would cease to exist period. It would be lost and lost forever.
Over the last few years, culminating at the Presidential election, we have been selling off our freedom like small plots of land from our ancestry's estate. A small spot here. Another there. And in turn, we were paid our 30 pieces of silver in the form of grants and rebates and edicts and checks signed by Uncle Sam.
Now, we want our birthright back. So...liberals, RINOs, moderates. Take a long hard look at that billboard. It's a sign of things to come.
You can learn more about who is behind the billboard here and here.
