Those troop quotes break my heart:
Our friends and family are over there. They are fighting an impossible war under a President who can't make up his mind whether to send more troops. So in the meantime, while they watch the body count increase, he'll be holding a Latin music festival at the White House.
'We're lost, that's how I feel. I'm not exactly sure why we're here'...
'There's no tangible reward for the sacrifice'...
'The whole country is going to s***'...
Fiesta Latina: Obama To Host Latin Music Night Next Week
WASHINGTON — The White House is taking on a Latin flair next week.
President Barack Obama plans to host a concert next Tuesday to honor Hispanic musical heritage.
And what encouragement does he offer our troops?
Try this one. He's thinking...well...instead of sending 40,000 more troops like Gen. Stanley McChrystal, U.S. commander in Afghanistan, requested, maybe the Taliban aren't that bad. Let's be friends. Let's work with them. Heck, maybe they'll let Obama fly over with his teleprompter and give them a speech. He really likes doing that.
Bowing to the reality that the Taliban is too ingrained in Afghanistan’s culture to be entirely defeated, the administration is prepared, as it has been for some time, to accept some Taliban role in parts of Afghanistan, the official said. That could mean paving the way for Taliban members willing to renounce violence to participate in a central government — though there has been little receptiveness to this among the Taliban. It might even mean ceding some regions of the country to the Taliban…
Obama kept returning to one question for his advisers: Who is our adversary, the official said.
I can answer that: a pacivist, naive, cowardly President. What about war does the man not understand? We're not fighting with people over a minor disagreement. Not even over a few policy differences. They. Want. To. Kill. Anyone. Not. Worshiping. Their. God.
As in dead. If you don't follow their laws, subdue your women, kill your homosexuals, worship their god, and empower them, they'll slit your throats one at a time until you are all dead. They are fanatics, i.e. crazy people!
Sometimes Allapundit's tongue is a bit harsh. And sometimes, he's the only one speaking for me.
In other words, rather than eat crap by forthrightly admitting he’s prepared to abandon huge swaths of the country to Islamist fascists rather than invest another 40,000 troops, he’s going to create an artificial distinction between the Taliban and Al Qaeda to let him save face by claiming he’s focused on “the real enemy.” Much like how he was focused during the campaign on “the good war” in Afghanistan rather than “the bad war” in Iraq. I wonder how long it’ll be before he decides that not everyone who’s in Al Qaeda is an enemy either...
Even Hillary gets it. My gosh, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I would prefer her as Commander-In-Chief over him. This is how low we've sunk on national defense. I need a moment to collect myself.
A State Department spokesman said Thursday that Clinton believes the Taliban and Al Qaeda are both a threat and the U.S. is fighting the whole idea of killing in the name of religious extremism.
Do I sound mad? Do I? No, it's okay. You can tell me.
I'm FURIOUS! Our troops are in Afghanistan, fighting a war Obama promised in his campaign to win, and now Mr. Celebrity would rather do talk shows and hold festivals and give international speeches than equip our brethren with the manpower they need to survive and triumph.
This is why, during the campaign, his outright refusal to admit the surge worked and apologize had been so instrumental. Because our military, and in due course our national safety, requires a man with the guts to defend us.
Instead, we elected a run-away model.
I'm going to go spend a few moments thinking about global warming and taking deep breaths until I calm down. Go to commercial!
