Video of Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) town hall meeting, here.
“I would ask that you tell Nancy Pelosi, I’m one of those ugly mobsters. I’m not a racist. I’m an American and I’m sick and tired of sitting here every time something goes wrong with the president’s plan, we are all racists. Well guess what? If he can call me a racist, more power to him, but he’s lying."Ron Harwell
town hall attendee in Tennessee
Darn. That racist card is all played out. Now what? Maybe people are protesting against the President's agenda because he's...thin. Those fat Nazi's.
If you think politics is boring, think again. You want honesty and passion, turn off Entertainment Tonight and check your local listings for a town hall meeting. This is drama and danger, history-making movements. I didn't attend Woodstock. I'm too young and, frankly, enjoy showering too much for a sweaty, marijuana feast in the sun. But I am attending town halls and world powers are shifting.
Notice all the dissension among the political lefties and Obama about including or excluding a public option? Town hall protesters did that.
Notice the rants of Nazi's and racism and un-American chants from the media because their Messiah is losing his argument? Town hall protesters did that.
Notice the sudden loss of stride in The One's vibrato, saying people will "most likely" get to keep their private insurance instead of his earlier absolute assessments that they could? Town hall protesters did that.
When government fear their citizenship, man is free. In reverse, there is nothing but tyranny. Politicians are suddenly waking up to the fact they have citizens listening, watching, and voting. You have politicians holding meetings at Union headquarters, busing in supporters, rallying their astroturf groups, all because they have new found respect for their constituents.
They call it disgust. But their actions say respect, in a fear of God type way.
It's a beautiful day to wake up and realize your fellow Americans have awakened, too. This is a wonderful country, an impeccable government of checks and balances, and the citizenry - Republicans, Democrats, and Independents - have suddenly remembered their fiery, independent, American spirit.
If only John Wayne could see us now.
