Stay tuned for her announcement to run for President in 2012. We need a girl who knows how to wear boots. There's going to be a lot of....uh....crap to walk through on her way to the White House. It's only just started.
WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she will resign from office July 26.Her spokesman wouldn't say why Palin decided to step down, but the announcement stirred speculation that she would focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president.
Spokesman Dave Murrow says Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month.
UPDATE:
Sarah gives her official announcement. My surmise is very possibly wrong. She never mentions running for another office, or working inside government. In fact, this may be the last of her political career. If the status of our political future could get worse, it just did.

It sounded as if the media heathens finally got to her and her family. The last attack, a blog distorting the face of Trig to look like a monster, might have been the last straw. Media individuals attacking a baby: that's true hate, that's truly sick.
UPDATE II
From Gateway Pundit:
UPDATE: On FOX News Her brother just said that she was spending 80% of her time defending herself from the state-run press and bogus ethics complaints. She had been doing this for months and wanted to spend more time helping her state but there was no way she could effectively govern when she had to constantly defend herself.
** The governor has won 15 different bogus ethics complaints.
** The state of Alaska has spent $2 million defending the governor.
** It cost those liberals nothing to file the bogus complaints.
** Fighting the complaints has left her $500,000 in debt.
She couldn't fully do her job, so she left so the job could get done. That, my friends, is a real public servant. She makes all of them, from Pelosi to Sanford, from Democrat to Republican, look like attention hungry, money hungry, power hungry looters.
I would have enjoyed our historically servant-minded political life, when Abraham Lincoln, before his Presidency, was told by his constituents to come home for the sake of their state. And he did.
